The Speakeasy Society frequently partners with major theatres and themed entertainment operators to deliver intimate storytelling at massive scale, including Walt Disney Imagineering, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, Meow Wolf, The Broad Stage, Two Bit Circus, and the 2023 WinterFest OC.

Our unique collaborative process is the through line in all our work, whether a given project is collaborative, partner-driven or independently produced. Experiential and interactive design is baked into every stage of our process from workshopping and scripting to read-throughs and rehearsals.

 

Project development begins with blue sky ideation, during which workshop exercises are created exploring the themes, language, and modes of interaction inspired by the story world. Our workshops are a fast-paced actor-driven process that subvert overthinking and encourage on-your-feet creative problem solving. 

 

We typically hold multiple workshopping phases for each project, followed by an iterative scripting process. Our productions are 99% scripted, with frameworks provided for interactive improvisational material as needed. Element lists, design assets, and media content are created concurrently during script development.
