“The living and the dead have voices--but Johnny is trapped in between”. The first of the four-part epic adaptation of Dalton Trumbo’s Johnny Got His Gun, The Johnny Cycle: The Quick and the Dead moved through personal and physical battlefields set in the dream-like labyrinth of the American Legion. The experience explored the personal trauma surrounding the complexities of war--fragmenting story, space, and character to examine a global impact on an individual scale.  The goal was to create a show that honored the service and sacrifice of veterans while still questioning the decision to engage in war.
